MSI's embedded systems support Windows 10

MSI is pleased to announce its industrial computing system products’ support list of the recently released Windows 10. Windows 10 benefits cross-device applications such as HMI, embedded PC, or mobile point-of-sale tablet to enable more application possibilities. Windows 10 IoT also offers enterprise-grade security for machine-to-machine and machine-to-cloud architectures.

At the consumer release in July 2015, Microsoft announced that, during its first year of availability, Windows 10 would be made available free of charge to existing users of eligible editions of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. In response to the market demand, MSI announced its list of embedded systems that support Windows 10, to fulfill clients’ application demand that run across multiple devices for better interconnection and integration.

Windows 10 introduces what Microsoft described as a 'universal' application architecture with some new features, such as: dynamic transitions between mouse-oriented interface and a touchscreen-optimised interface based on available input devices; integrated support for fingerprint and face recognition login; new security features for enterprise environments; flexible alignment of the Start menu; Microsoft’s clever digital assistant, Cortana; the brand-new Edge browser; the Task View virtual desktops; smarter Action Center with notifications archived; and DirectX 12 and WDDM 2.0 to improve the operating system's graphics capabilities for games.

Following the trend, MSI has tested and listed its embedded computing systems that are compatible with Windows 10, which currently include:

  • MS-9A65 WindBOX II Advanced ultra-slim fanless system, with Intel BayTrail platform, 8GB memory capacity, two independent displays (HDMI/DVI-I), two GbE LAN, one Mic-in, one Line-out, two USB 2.0, one USB 3.0, one RS-232/422/485 port and two Mini-PCIe (one w/ mSATA); -10 to +60°C operating temperature (with SSD).
  • MS-9A66 high performance fanless computer with 4th Gen Intel Processor, 16GB memory capacity, three independent displays (2DP/DVI-I), two GbE LAN, one Mic-in, one Line-out, one Line-in, three USB 2.0, four USB 3.0, 5 COM ports, one PCIe x16 and three PCI; -10 to +50°C operating temperature (with SSD).
  • MS-9A75 WindBOX III Advanced slim fanless system, with 5th Gen Intel Broadwell ULT Platform, 16GB memory capacity, three independent displays (DP/DVI-D/VGA), two GbE LAN, one Mic-in, one Line-out, four or two USB 2.0, 4 USB 3.0, two or one COM port and two Mini-PCIe (one with mSATA); -10 to +50°C operating temperature (with SSD).
  • MS-9A78 swappable box computer with Intel BayTrail/Haswell Platform, 16 or 8GB memory capacity, three or two independent displays (DP/VGA/HDMI), two GbE LAN, one Mic-in, one Line-out, one Line-in, six or four USB 2.0, one or four USB 3.0, five or four COM ports and one or two Mini-PCIe (one with mSATA); -10 to +50°C operating temperature (with SSD).
