A rugged, maintenance-free box computer designed for data acquisition has been released by MEN Mikro Elektronik GmbH. The BC50R, which is IP65 rated, features USB, digital input and output, GigE, CAN and legacy serial I/Os implemented on rugged M12 connectors.

The device is powered by an energy-efficient AMD Embedded G-Series APU. The combination of the various CPU/GPU options with the available selection of external interfaces makes for a flexible system.

The device is designed for fanless operation at temperatures ranging from -40 to +70°C. Its extremely robust aluminium housing protects the internal electronics.

Conforming to protection class IP65, the BC50R is certifiable to railway standard EN 50155, EN 60945 for shipping and to the E-mark for the automotive sector (ISO 7637-2).
