Designed to support DMMs or source meters which require the closure of up to 1024 crosspoint relays, the 60-553 LXI switching matrix has been introduced by Pickering Interfaces. Featuring a dual bus design, the 1024x4, 1-pole, 1U device can be divided into two smaller independent matrices, such as 512x4.

Isolation relays allow sub-matrices to be isolated from the main matrix when there are no closures on that sub-matrix, minimising capacitive loading and maximising bandwidth. For larger matrices, the sub-matrices can be linked together by cables. The sub-matrices can also be supplied as partially populated matrices from 256x4 in increments of 128x4.

A 160-way DIN41612 connector, which is fully supported by the company’s range of connector accessories, enables user connections. Control is possible via an Ethernet connection which is fully compliant to Version 1.4 of the LXI standard. The LXI switching matrix is offered with Pickering’s diagnostic test tool BIRST, which allows users to find failures within the matrices quickly and easily.
