RDP Electronics Ltd can provide LVDTs that are particularly suited to power station installations, where control valves are typically located far apart, but also need to connect to a central control system.
/>
LVDTs offer an elegant upgrade option to replace elderly potentiometric valves which have to be adjusted with visual indicators and are still present in many power stations. Not only can RDP provide transducers suited to the hot and dirty environments encountered, but also have versions which can withstand adjustment of main steam valves of turbines, or types designed to withstand the high temperature, shock and vibration associated with by-pass valves. There is the option to connect transducers directly to 4-20mA outputs, or alternatively to use environmentally protected signal amplifiers. These can be connected to the transducer using 4-20mA, 2 wire loops that allow long cable runs needed due to the physical separation of valves encountered in power stations.
