i7 processor powers PC extension for prototyping system

The Embedded PC extension, designed for dSPACE’s MicroAutoBox II prototyping system, is now powered by an Intel Core i7 processor. While the real-time component of a control system under development is calculated on the real-time processor of the MicroAutoBox II, the non-real-time component is processed on the Embedded PC.

With the i7 processor, the combined system now provides the processing power necessary for particularly demanding Microsoft Windows applications. The large amount of data generated by sensors used by the control system, such as cameras, can also now be optimally processed.

Featuring 8GB of DDR3 RAM and 128GB of flash memory (64GB integrated, 64GB flexibly via CFast card), the Embedded PC extension can be used with Windows 7 or an Ubuntu/Linux operating system. An Embedded PC variant with the Intel Atom N270 processor is also available. Using a remote control, the entire MicroAutoBox II and Embedded PC system can be switched on and off synchronously.
