DFI introduces new Type 2 COM Express Basic module

DFI launches a new Type 2 COM Express Basic module, the HM920-HM86, providing low-power consumption and higher performance. This COM Express Basic module is powered by BGA 1364 packaging technology supporting the latest 4th generation Intel Core processor family which is the next generation of 64-bit, multi-core processor built on 22-nanometer process technology and delivers up to 5~15% CPU performance increase compared with its previous generations.

The Intel HD Graphics engine integrated into these processors supports up to 2x significant improvement in 3D graphics performance and faster video conversion to HD transcode performance increase. Targeted at multimedia and medical applications, the HM920-HM86 offers enhanced graphics performance via the VGA and LVDS interfaces.

The HM920-HM86 features 2 DDR3L SODIMM sockets that support up to 16GB low voltage memory, and an optional onboard SSD that offers the persistent function of data storage. This low-power module board takes full advantage of the Intel HM86 Express chipset which is packed with high performance and flexible I/O capabilities to provide increased mobile computing and graphics performance. The HM920-HM86 also comes with multiple expansion configurations that offer additional capabilities for various demands via 1 PCIe x16, 6 PCIe x1, and 4 PCI interfaces.

Based on these combined features as described above, the HM920-HM86 is a perfect mobile embedded module for a whole range of applications requiring a stable revision-controlled platform, such as industrial control automation, digital signage, medical equipment, and kiosk embedded applications.
