Highly Integrated UMTS Femto Base-Station Chipset From Maxim

Maxim has introduced the MAX2557/MAX2597, a WCDMA Band II and Band V femto base-station transceiver chipset with a unique digital interface for the North American UMTS market. The receiver (MAX2557) and transmitter (MAX2597) utilize Maxim’s proprietary high dynamic range MAX-PHY(TM) interface to eliminate the need for a mixed-signal analog front-end. The MAX2557 has four low-noise amplifier (LNA) inputs to allow monitoring of WCDMA and GSM macro-network signals.

The MAX2599 integrates power amplifiers (PAs) to further reduce BOM expense. This industry-leading chipset is the most integrated and highest performance solution for the burgeoning femto base-station market.

The MAX2557/MAX2597 are the North American versions of Maxim’s previously released UMTS Band I solution: the MAX2547/MAX2599 transceiver chipset. The MAX2557 is available in a 48-pin fcLGA package, while the MAX2597 is packaged in a 64-pin fcLGA. Both devices operate over the -40 degrees Celsius to +85 degrees Celsius extended industrial temperature range. Contact the factory for pricing.
