GreenPeak Technologies today announced it will demonstrate a full suite of innovative Smart Home showcases at IBC 2013. Highlights at the booth are GreenPeak’s successful deployments in low cost and long battery-life ZigBee sensor applications as rolled out by major cable and satellite operators.

GreenPeak will demonstrate a fully integrated cloud based Smart Home, featuring a range of products and applications from its customers and partners, including home monitoring, energy management, environmental control and remote health care and assisted living.

ZigBee sentrollers (sensors, remotes and actuators) can be offered as low as 5$ and can run on coin cell batteries for over 10 years. GreenPeak connected sentroller devices share the ZigBee communication standard, offer full home coverage and can be controlled via the central set-top box/gateway from a smartphone or handheld device from any place in the home as well as from anywhere in the world, via the cloud.

The GreenPeak chip portfolio covers the ZigBee standards and profiles including ZigBee PRO (HA 1.2 and Green Power) and ZigBee RF4CE.

Cees Links, Founder and CEO of GreenPeak Technologies, a market leader for ZigBee technology for wireless sensor communication, says: “We are proud to showcase our silicon, software and reference designs as the key communication components in the applications of our customers and partners. Our partners are looking for technology solutions that can help build the Smart Home. At IBC2013, the Smart Home comes to life in our booth, with real sensor products and with integrated applications that prove the strength and benefits of our ZigBee solutions.”

“Cable and satellite providers have selected ZigBee as the connectivity standard for their set-top boxes laying the foundation for a much larger ZigBee network in the home.” According to Greg Potter of MRG, an SNL Kagan Company, “With the advent of home control services from world’s largest service providers, ZigBee will be the beneficiary of this new paradigm with a multitude of providers adding ZigBee Smart Home control services to their offering. It is clear that ZigBee is becoming the de-facto standard for home control applications (HVAC, lighting, security and others), remote controls, outdoor lighting, and smart meter markets.”
