Fujitsu Expands WiMAX Terminal Ecosystem with Teltonika

Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe and Teltonika collaborate to offer WiMAX operators a new and expanded range of WiMAX terminals. Teltonika, with R&D, production and support in Vilnius, Lithuania, will expand its wireless GSM, GPRS and HSDPA modules and terminals portfolio with new WiMAX terminals based on Fujitsu’s second generation WiMAX chipset and protocol stack. The first of these new terminals to come to market will be a triple-band half size PCI Express mini card, triple-band USB dongle and a desktop router.

Further products in an on-going roll-out will include WiMAX video surveillance modules, WiFi / WiMAX routers and embedded M2M devices planned for later this calendar year.

Manfred Mettendorff, Senior Marketing Manager at FME said, “Teltonika perfectly complements our worldwide terminal partner ecosystem. Furthermore, they are a European terminal vendor, with their own highly competitive production facilities within the boundaries of the European Union. Teltonika is capable of supporting a wide range of customer requirements and already enjoys an outstanding track record. It brings experience from the wireless module market and will help to launch a whole series of WiMAX products within a short turn around time”

Fujitsu’s second-generation WiMAX silicon solution consists of a low power baseband device, triple-band RF transceiver and an optimised power management chip that comes with a WiMAX Forum® certified WiMAX protocol stack. Fujitsu provides H/W and S/W solution support to terminal vendors for PC peripheral applications, full mobile low power handheld terminals and embedded systems.

Arvydas Paukštys CEO of Teltonika said: “We selected Fujitsu’s WiMAX solution because of its competitive leading-edge core technology as well as Fujitsu’s excellent local and global support and R&D infrastructure. We are excited about the imminent launch of our triple-band half-size PCI Express mini cards, USB modems, routers, cameras and other M2M products based on Fujitsu’s WiMAX platform.”
