AAEON has unveiled its latest small form factor Pico-ITX board, measuring only 100mm x 72mm, powered by the dual core 1.6GHz Intel Atom N2600 low power consumption processor and Intel NM10 express chipset. The PICO-CV01 offers high performance per watt in the compact form factor, to meet the demands of high-end industrial and various fanless embedded applications.
Based on the Pico-ITX form factor, the AAEON PICO-CV01 combines a rich I/O set with great multimedia performance, supporting a mini-HDMI interface (audio/video) and onboard 18-bit single channel LVDS. The PICO-CV01 supports a DDR3 800 SODIMM up to a maximum of 2GB of memory, one SATA2.0 interface, two COM ports, five USB2.0 ports, one 4-bit DIO interface, one Gigabit Ethernet port, one half-size mini-Card that can be made to support mSATA modules for storage and one DC 12V input. This board is small but has a board thickness of 1.8mm to be more rigid to withstand the pressure exerted from the installed heatsink , and is therefore less likely to crack over time.

“The PICO-CV01 is a comprehensive, fanless and small embedded board suitable for use in harsh environments,” said Joe Lin, Product Manager of AAEON’s Embedded Computer Division. “It’s operating temperature of (correct temp info) 0℃~60℃and compact size is ideally suitable for integration into fanless DIN-Rail PCs, industrial systems, small size POI to be used in Industrial Automation, Smart Homes, Smart Buildings and Energy applications. Less than 10 Watts of power consumption also makes this SBC a contender for hand-held, battery-powered applications.”

If Microsoft Windows platform is used, customers can easily create their own user interface without additional coding simply by downloading the AAEON-developed Hi-Safe program. Utilizing this service, the PICO-CV01 can be made to fit just about any application and system. AAEON offers customization services for system developers, and supports all common operating systems such as Windows XP, Windows 7 and Linux Fedora.

About Hi-Safe
Hi-Safe is an AAEON-developed program geared toward SDKs for UIs with Microsoft Windows platforms. The AAEON Hi-Safe program provides an easy way to develop the customer’s software, including watchdog, system monitoring, Super I/O, fan, temperature and voltage data, DIO information, SMBus address detection, Backlight controller and UPS data. Since it is based on the user interface SDK, there are no additional coding efforts necessary. By downloading this free coding, customers are able to create their own user interfaces effortlessly.
