To meet the demand for higher security, management efficiency and reliability in mobile applications and high bandwidth applications, ORing has released the RGPS-R9244GP+-P industrial Ethernet switch, which harnesses Layer 3 features, Gigabit speed, optical fibre support and PoE functions.

Layer 3 functionality plays a key role in achieving higher security and management efficiency as the technology will forward packages and traffic to the destination intelligently based on IP addresses. Layer 3 routing makes the device suitable for complex system architectures consisting of different domains or different VLANs. As the switch supports static and dynamic routing, users can either manage IP addresses manually or let the switch learn and update the routes automatically. The RGPS-R9244GP+-P will communicate with other Layer 3 switches or routers via RIP routing protocol, a widely-used protocol that will identify the best routing path automatically to ensure fast delivery of data in the shortest time. With L3 support, the device can provide fast forwarding via hardware, hence improving network performance and resiliency, while enabling flexible network design and greater control of network traffic.

Considering the need for high bandwidth capacity stemming from data-intense applications, the RGPS-R9244GP+-P is equipped with 24Gb Ethernet ports and four 1G/10G SFP+ slots to enable direct connections from server racks and top-of-rack switches to the core network. Users can insert 1G or 10G SFP modules based on their requirements and the working environment to deliver unprecedented non-blocking 10G bandwidth at an affordable cost. The device is also offered with high-bandwidth trunking capabilities, which will combine connections into a single, logical, high-bandwidth trunk to reduce traffic congestion. Therefore, the RGPS-R9244GP+-P is a suitable for use as a top-of-rack switch for servers in enterprise and cloud data centres, a high-performance core switch for a small network or a high-performance aggregation switch in a traditional three-tiered network. The SFP modules allow for fibre optic connectivity at extended distances, enabling stream media, multicasting and many other bandwidth-intensive applications and large file transfers across networks at outstanding speeds.

The RGPS-R9244GP+-P supports IEEE 802.3at PoE with its 24Gb Ethernet ports, a standard allowing for transmission of power and data on the same Ethernet cable. With up to 30W per port, the switch can output 720W in total. PoE function eliminates the need for additional power cables and nearby power outlets, making installation easier and more cost-effective, while providing higher network flexibility for future scalability. Through the PoE management interface, users can manage PoE power in an efficient and convenient way such as scheduled configuration and PoE auto-ping check. Users can also allocate PoE power budget by different parameters according to their needs.
