A Type 6 COM Express Basic module, which is powered by the BGA 1364 packaging technology supporting the 4th gen Intel Core processor family, has been introduced by DFI. Equipped with an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600 engine, the HM960-QM87 provides smooth flash playback and rich 2D/3D graphics with high quality playback.

The module offers enhanced graphics performance via VGA, LVDS and DDI (HDMI/DVI/DP) interfaces, making it a flexible solution for gaming, media and automation applications. Alongside two DDR3L SODIMM sockets which support up to 16GB, the COM Express Basic module features an optional onboard SSD, claimed to be faster than conventional rotating hard disks.

Expansion interfaces include one PCIe x16, seven PCIe x1, one LAN, 12 USB, four SATA 3.0, one LPC, one I2C, one SMBus, two serial and 4-bit input and 4-bit output GPIO for device controls. As well as allowing systems to process a higher data load, these flexible interfaces enable faster loading of frequently used applications.
