Bluetechnix announced the availability of the TCM-BF518 Core Module, a new, ultra small module board based on the Analog Devices 400MHz Blackfin BF518 processor, bringing powerful digital signal processing functionality to a small form factor. The TCM-BF518 is the latest offering from Bluetechnix, an established designer and developer of a full family of Blackfin-based products. The TCM-BF518 Core Module, with a 28x28mm footprint, is targeted at wireless, industrial and voice-over-IP telephony (VOIP) applications.

At the core of the new module is the high performance Blackfin BF518 processor which provides exceptional processing capability with low power operation. Ideal for demanding network connected systems, the Blackfin BF518 processor’s unified architecture allows voice and video signal processing concurrent with RISC MCU processing to handle network and user interfaces in a single chip solution. The Bluetechnix TCM-BF518 Core Module board features integrated on-board 32MB SDRAM, 8MB flash and an extensive array of interfaces, including 10/100 Ethernet MII/RMII, I2C, PPI, SPI, SPORT and UART. With on-board RAM, flash, power supply and robust connectivity options, the TCM-BF518 enables developers to build a tightly integrated, feature-rich solution in a 784mm2 form factor.

“As evidence by today’s TCM-BF518 product announcement, Bluetechnix once again has fully leveraged the performance and connectivity of the Blackfin processor to support complex applications,” said Steven van der Wolf, Distribution Business Development Manager, Analog Devices. “This Bluetechnix Core Module solution is robust, cost-effective, and easy to deploy.”

“Without the Blackfin’s processing power and integrated on-chip interfaces, this high performance 28x28mm board would not be possible,” said Gregor Novak, CEO, Bluetechnix. Our customers get all the benefits of a larger board, but with the design flexibility of small size and low power consumption.”
