AAEON launches an EPIC board that is offered with the option of wide temperature support--EPIC-5537. Operating temperature support of -20℃ to +70℃ is available on the EPIC-5537W1. This is the first EPIC board with wide temperature design in mind. It not only satisfies the increasing embedded market demands for robust environments, but also completes the product line of wide temperature.
The EPIC-5537 deploys onboard AMD Geode LX800 processor and incorporates the CS5536 chipset along with 256MB of onboard DDR memory at 333MHz (with the option to increase it RAM to 512MB memory). The Ethernet chipset is the Intel 82551ER for the standard 0C to 60C offering or the Intel 82551IT for the EPIC-5537W1, and supports two 10/100Base-TX Ethernet connections to provide a faster network communication. For extra expansion interfaces, the EPIC-5537 equips PCI/104+ (PCI-104 and PC/104) interface on the board. In addition, this model is well equipped with one SATA, one EIDE and one CompactFlash connector for a flexible storage.

The EPIC-5537 has been designed to target robust, harsh environments. The size of EPIC is bigger than the 3.5 SubCompact Board, but is smaller than the standard embedded motherboard. It can integrate the full functions motherboards equip into a smaller form factor. Moreover, the feature of wide temperature (-20℃ to 70℃ operating temperature) makes EPIC-5537W1 a reliable EPIC CPU board. Most of the rigid applications require onboard CPU and wide range operating temperature. The EPIC-5537W1 satisfies the demands of embedded market now and in the further, “ said Tony Huang, Product Manager of AAEON's Embedded Computing Division.

The EPIC-5537 supports CRT/LCD simultaneous/ dual view displays. The display controller deploys AMD LX series + TI SN75LVDS83 with shared system memory, up to 254MB. The LCD interface features up to 24-bit single channel LVDS/TTL LCD for a high quality display function. The EPIC-5537 also offers flexible I/O interfaces, such as two COM ports, four USB2.0 ports, one Keyboard/Mouse port and 8-bit programmable digital I/O. This audio function of EPIC-5537 uses the AC97 2.0 Codec for 2 channel audio and features Line-in, Line-out, Mic-in & CD-in that is ideal for multimedia or other interactive applications.
