2.4GHz front-end module targets Zigbee applications

Availability and full design support capabilities for a 2.4GHz front-end module from Skyworks Solutions has been announced by distributor Richardson RFPD. The SKY66112-11 is a high-performance, fully-integrated RF front-end module (FEM) designed for ZigBee, Thread and Bluetooth Smart applications.

Designed for ease-of-use and maximum flexibility, the new device provides an integrated inter-stage matching and harmonic filter, and digital controls compatible with 1.6V to 3.6V CMOS levels.

It maximises battery life while simultaneously increasing transmission range with improved power.

The module integrates a power amplifier with up to +21dBm output power, a low noise amplifier with 2 dB noise figure and bypass path, and antenna diversity switching for all modes.

It is designed for a range of Internet of Things applications, such as in-home appliances, smart thermostats, smart lighting, sensors, range extenders, and other IoT devices.

Additional key features of the SKY66112-11 include frequency range of 2400–2483MHz, single-ended transmit/receive interface, fast switch on/off time of < 800ns and a supply range of 1.8V to 3.6V.

Sleep mode current is < 1 μA typical and no external bias resistor is required. The module comes in a small MCM package: 22-pin, 3.5mm x 3.0mm x 1.0mm
