The expense of wiring up and plugging in the modules of a photovoltaic system comprises between 10 - 20% of the entire cost of each unit. The aim of installers and system operators is to reduce these costs. This can be achieved, for instance, by using preassembled cables, such as those supplied by Yamaichi.

Often, however, it is only possible on-site to determine the length of a cable and install a connector in the field. Such installation thus needs to be simple, safe and possible without special tools.

For this purpose Yamaichi has developed the new Y-Sol4 F.A.T. (Free Assembly Type) connector. The installer can fit this connector in just three stages, and without any special tools:

• In the first stage the cut and insulated cable is inserted into the contact.

• Then the contact is sealed by hand. The terminal contact makes contact with the copper flex of the cable.

• The connector is then screwed in. And that’s it!

This means that wiring up can be carried out in the field - fast and simply with just minimum expense and without any tools.
