Weald Electronics has unveiled its new LMR Range of robust rack and panel connectors. This range serves as a direct replacement for the discontinued ITW McMurdo Connectors Red Range, a series previously favoured for blind mating applications.

The introduction of the LMR Range ensures that users of ITW connectors can continue the production of existing products and the support of systems in use worldwide.

The LMR Range, designed for line-to-line or panel connections, features a polarised, self-aligning, and low insertion force blind-mate plug and socket arrangement, making it ideal for use in hard-to-reach applications. Furthermore, a current rating of 5A per contact meets the increasing demands for high-power and high-reliability electrical systems.

Constructed exclusively from high-temperature Diallyl Phthalate (DAP) resin, the Weald LMR Range connectors are fully compatible with both the Nylon and DAP versions of the ITW McMurdo Connectors Red Range. DAP is chosen for its superior properties, including electrical insulation, heat resistance, water resistance, chemical resistance, and ease of moulding, qualities that were highly regarded in the ITW McMurdo Connectors Red Range.

Nick Wheeler, Sales Director at Lane Electronics, commented on the launch: "Our heavy-duty LMR Range rectangular rack and panel connector system, known for its durability in numerous global applications, will continue to enjoy popularity. Its design is particularly well-suited for rugged environments found in industrial electronics, robotics, and process control."

The key features of the Weald Electronics LMR connector range are:

  • Durable construction.
  • 180° polarisation.
  • Floating bushes for enhanced alignment.
  • Superior current carrying capability.
  • Availability in four sizes with 8, 16, 24, and 32 contacts.
  • 5A current rating.
  • Operational voltage up to 800V DC or AC peak.
  • UL-94 V-0 flame-retardant rating.
  • Diallyl-Phthalate (DAP) insulators.
  • Designed as a direct replacement for the ITW McMurdo Connectors Red Range.
