Waterproof Ethernet connectors offer full EMI shielding

ACAL Technology announce the immediate availability of sample and production quantities of Bulgin’s full range of waterproof Ethernet connectors, including a new metal EMI-shielded backshell for use in applications with high levels of electrical noise in addition to harsh operating conditions.

The new PX0888 metal backshell provides a complete 360 degree bond to the panel for Bulgin’s plastic PX0883 Ethernet connectors. The combination of the IP68 connector and the metal backshell delivers comprehensive protection against damage by water, dust, EMI and RFI. Assembly is simplified by using the existing connector panel nut or the connector and backshell can be supplied by ACAL Technology as a pre-assembled unit either with or without cable assembly. The PX0888/E version of the connector integrates a short earth lead to provide an alternative option for applications where full EMI shielding is not essential.

Bulgin’s range of Ethernet connectors provides Cat5e and IP68 sealing integrity in addition to significant design flexibility: The family comprises panel-mounting connectors with an industry-standard shielded RJ45 interface and PCB or IDC terminations; vertical and horizontal PCB-mounting connectors; and a square flange-mount connector with a secure four-hole screw fixing and RJ45 connections to the front and rear of the panel.

Accessories such as sealing caps and a cable joiner are also available. Bulgin IP68 Ethernet connectors are designed to deliver reliable networking performance, despite extreme conditions, in applications such as metering, lighting, CCTV, base station, marine and traffic control.

The integration of Bulgin Ethernet connectors into new or retro-fit applications is supported by ACAL Technology’s local specialists. Their expertise helps to reduce risk and cycle times during product development and design-in whilst extensive in-house assembly facilities further reduces time to market.
