Hypertac has announced the launch of its ultra-miniature high density RD strip connector for PCB connections. It has been designed for particular use in applications that operate in severe environments such as electronic equipment in aerospace and defence applications. Using the 0.30 mm hyperboloid contact, the high density RD connector is offered in one or two rows with a pitch of 1.27 mm, enabling a contact density up to 60 ways per cm². It is available in either SMT or THT termination type, and is customisable for pick-and-place machines.
The very high density and performance specification of the RD connector make it ideal for PCB or MCM stacking, and for flex or wire direct connections onto PCBs. It enables a very low stacking height, with mated connectors reaching just 6.9 mm.

In addition to the standard characteristics of strip connectors, the Hypertac hyperboloid technology brings the advantages of very low contact resistance, a 3 A current rating for each 0.3 mm pin contact, immunity to shocks & vibrations, protection against fretting and provides corrosion resistance.
