The trend toward miniaturization continues unabated, and many systems vendors are facing the challenge of having to adapt their components (especially electromechanical components) to the confined spaces required by device specifications. One example of a solution to this problem has been created by SUYIN’s innovative design team: the new 100016FB013M205ZL RJ45 jack.
Within a very short period and in accordance with customer specifications, SUYIN “space optimized” this 8P8C SMT jack to such an extreme that – including its two integrated status LEDs (green/orange and yellow) ) – it now features dimensions of 16.75 mm x 14.0 mm x 11.3 mm (L x W x H). Compared to other low-profile versions, this represents a space savings of up to 20%. The other application-specific customer requirements include the ability to withstand particularly high removal forces, and the implementation of highly effective shielding measures for protection against electromagnetic interference. This sophisticated SUYIN solution consists of two THT solder tags that ensure an effective ground (earth) connection while simultaneously maintaining an optimal hold on the board in conjunction with the five THT LED solder contacts. Beyond this, the location of the side connecting contacts and a portion of the rear contacts beneath the jack housing offers additional advantages for keeping board layouts compact.

Typical applications for this new RJ45 jack include POS terminals, mini PCs, telephone base stations, notebooks, etc., in which every cubic millimeter is crucial. The jacks are supplied in reel packaging for fast, automatic mounting.
