Featuring large surface soldering brackets to ensure a high retention force on the board, ERNI Electronics has a series of D-Sub SMT connectors. The company has claimed that these connectors further improve the robustness and reliability of D-Sub I/O connectors.

The D-Sub connectors provide secure mounting accessories to protect from inappropriate handling, i.e. from pulling out of nuts and bolts or from metal house stripping. A double shield connection ensures a reliable continuous grounding contact between the board and the metal protection collar, therefore significantly improving electromagnetic compatibility.

Available with male and female connectors, the extremely robust D-Sub series feature thread and bolt (M3 and 4-40) mounting accessories on the mating side and solder bracket mounting options on the terminal side.

The connector series is available with Eurostyle (3.6mm) assembly heights and 9, 15 and 25 pins. ERNI Electronics plans to introduce a 37-pin Eurostyle variant, as well as versions with Standard (7.3mm) and US Style assembly heights (6.3mm), at the end of 2014.
