To seal the assembly for pressurisation, the body features a silicone rubber O-ring design. While black polyether ether ketone (PEEK) thermoplastic polymer was utilised for the internal insulator, DuPont Teflon was utilised for the SMB connector insulator. The connector’s centre contact was plated with mil-standard gold.

A custom SMB jack coaxial connector for a defence contractor has been designed by Aviel Electronics, a division of RF Industries. Designed to be attached to a piece of test equipment, the panel mounted SMB jack features a threaded passivated stainless steel type 303 body and hex nuts.
