To demonstrate a high level of environmental protection, GradConn has set out to discover how its Nautilus IP rated coaxial and SMA connectors and assemblies performed over an extended period out in the field, subject to different environment conditions.

Working closely with independent test labs, GradConn’s engineering team developed a test plan to simulate prolonged use in demanding environments, specifically on the popular SMA variants within the Nautilus range, to assess the impact on its performance. The tests are designed to replicate five years of usage in the field based on an accelerated life test methodology.

GradConn’s extended environment simulation consists of four core parameters: Electrical Performance, Salt Spray, IPX7 Testing and Thermal Shock.  Each individual parameter was cycled five times to replicate a total of five years in the field, conducted to industry test standard specifications.

“On top of the extensive testing we already conduct on the Nautilus range, we wanted to perform further rigorous service life testing to give our customers added confidence in our products,” commented Andy Hamlin, GradConn Sales Manager. “It’s clear from our results that the Nautilus SMA cable assembly and connector versions have passed all tests with no degradation of performance and is testament to the excellent standard of engineering that has gone into our products.”
