Single-phase connector for decentralised power supplies

The new Han Q2/0 connector from HARTING is a two-pole device designed for single-phase decentralised power-supply applications requiring currents of up to 40 A. Decentralised power supplies based on photovoltaic generation have attracted interest as a means of providing renewable energy in applications such as lighting, signalling and telecommunications. Unlike traditional power-transmission architectures, these systems typically require two-wire single-phase transmission and relatively high currents, along with a simple, safe termination technology to ensure ease of connection and handling.

The Han Q2/0 can be combined with HARTING’s wide range of Han 3A hoods and housings, and is therefore suitable for a variety of applications in different environments. Axial screw termination technology guarantees a safe and reliable connection, which is well proven in applications such as
railcars, where the connector is exposed to shocks and vibration. A further advantage of axial screw termination is the extremely compact contact, which, unlike crimping, does not require any special tools when connecting the conductor to the contact.

Wire gauges ranging from 4 to 6 mm² can be terminated, and the two-pole plus protective earth contact configuration is complemented by a coding system that prevents incorrect mating when several connectors are in use. The Han Q 2/0 meets the latest standards of finger protection for use in
energy storage devices such as batteries, as applied to photovoltaic systems, and is designed to withstand voltages of up to 830 V to guarantee safety in use.
