There is a wide range of 26 different male and female versions with a total of 178 different types – from the standard and right-angle models to inverted versions and all the way to power connectors. For the majority of them, the contacts are arranged in a maximum of 5 or 8 rows of 2 x 11 signal contacts together with 2 rows of 2 x 11 ground contacts or EMC/RFI shielding contacts (110/44 to 196/44 contacts).
The contacts are made of a nickel-plated copper alloy. In the press-in area for THT mounting, they are tin-plated, and they are gold-plated in the contact area. Some of the key performance figures include the insulation resistance of 10 GΩ, the contact resistance of 20 mΩ, the electric strength 750 V (Vrms) within a row of contacts or 1,500 V (Vrms) between the contact rows, the current carrying capacity of 1.5 A (at +20 °C), the operating temperature range of – 55 °C to + 125 °C, as well as the reliability rating of 250 mating cycles.
Despite the high number of variants, conformance with the IEC standards ensures compatibility with products from other manufacturers.
