A new connector which groups multiple cables of Ethernet and MVB lines together in the same interconnect has been developed by leading hi-rel connector company ITT Interconnect Solutions. The company has met the challenge of developing this new interconnect for harsh and very demanding environments by mounting new M12 contacts into CIR series hardware.
Four conductor wires and a braid of shielded cables are integrated into the M12 contact and in turn, multiple M12 contacts and cables are regrouped within the connector by means of a special plastic insert and connector accessories. The FRCIR connector with M12 contacts provides a highly cost-effective solution for multiple shielding in harsh environments and across an operating temperature range of -40degC to +125degC, meeting IP67 in a mated condition with the appropriate accessories.

The FRCIR connector is size 32, with copper alloy M12 type contacts and plastic UL94-VO inserts which meet NF F 16-101/16-102 standards. Cables are qualified at frequencies of 1MHz, 10MHz and 100MHz, with ethernet lines to 100 Ω and with MVB lines to 120 Ω. The aluminium alloy shells have black epoxy urethane varnish and are fully RoHS compliant.

The FRCIR connector with M12 contacts was originally developed to provide system connections for data transmission in railway applications and is also suitable for other transportation interconnects and data bus networks.
