Murata has enhanced the operating frequency range and reduced the footprint of its tiny RF switch connectors to create the new SWG series, now suitable for UWB (ultra wide band) applications. The SWG series of connectors, the world's smallest RF switch connectors at just 2.0 x 2.0 x 0.9mm, are designed to enable reliable testing of RF circuits throughout a product's development stage up to final production and save PCB space in portable/handheld consumer electronics applications.
The series' small footprint makes it ideal for mobile phones, PDAs, GPS systems and measurement equipment and is compatible with WiFi, WiMAX, 4G, Bluetooth, ZigBee and UWB wireless standards.

The connectors are now suitable for inspection of RF signals up to 11GHz, enabling designers to use wider frequency bands including UWB. This series features excellent high frequency characteristics with low insertion loss (01.dB max between DC and 3GHz, 0.2dB mas between 3 and 6GHz, 0.5dB max between 6 and 11GHz). VSWR (voltage standing wave ratio) is 1.5 maximum. Murata's proprietary beam spring and double contact mechanism inside the connector ensure a reliable contact and the connectors are designed to reduce flux penetration.

The SWG series is high durability, with a lifetime of more than 100 mating cycles. Murata also offers test probes, manual probes for test and evaluation and production probes for use in automated production lines.
