Introducing Re-Flex – the hand-formable coax cable

Insulated Wire presents Re-Flex, their premier brand of flexible coaxial cables, designed to provide improved electrical and mechanical performance over traditional hand-formable designs.

Re-Flex flexible coaxial cables are the premier choice for projects demanding high durability, versatility, and exceptional performance in challenging conditions. The Re-Flex range offer the perfect coaxial cable solution tailored to customer specific requirements, ensuring optimal results for most applications.

The Re-Flex series is available in diameters of RF085, RF141, RF250, and RF325, each benefiting from a unique lamination process and robust double shield construction. These cables feature a solder-free tin/alloy plated outer braid, ensuring resilience against micro-fractures through repeated flexing, thus eliminating common manufacturability issues found in similar RG cables.

Re-Flex cables support a vast array of connector types and styles, such as SMA, TNC, N, SMP, SMPM, and more, delivering exceptional performance up to 60GHz. Specifically, the RF250 series is designed for high-power applications, offering compatibility with a wide selection of connectors to meet diverse project requirements.

Re-Flex assemblies are designed to seamlessly replace semi-rigid or conformable cable types, featuring an FEP jacket as a standard option to enhance versatility across applications. For ease of selection, cable part numbers include TPRFEP085, TPRFEP141, and TPRFEP250, catering to a broad spectrum of design needs.

Insulated Wire offers Re-Flex Starter Kits with options of CT-1879, CT-1880, and CT-1881, each providing a range of assembly lengths to facilitate prototype system builds. These kits underscore the adaptability and user-friendly nature of Re-Flex, promoting efficient signal path and layout changes without the drawbacks of traditional coaxial solutions. The ability to continually re-form Re-Flex without the need for custom tooling to shape the cable, and the elimination of debris caused by micro fracturing is a key feature of the Re-Flex cable design, and enables the designer to make signal path/layout changes without having to throw product away after using it once.

In addition to internally ruggedised cables IW has a wide range of materials and processes to protect their cable assemblies. These include a variety of metallic and non-metallic external sheaths to meet customer’s requirements.
