Han-Quick Lock(r) from HARTING is an innovative termination technology for industrial interconnection which combines reliability and ease of assembly for applications involving high contact densities.

The new technique combines the space-saving benefits of crimp technology with simple and rapid assembly, providing a rugged, vibration-resistant termination without the need for special tooling. This 'plug & play' approach to assembly means that it can be quickly and safely disconnected and reconnected for maintenance purposes or as customers' requirements change.

Han-Quick Lock(r) is based on a radial cage-clamp termination technique, and features a round spring that encloses the conductor strands and achieves high contact packing densities thanks to the radially symmetrical spring terminal.

The mating surface forms a specially shaped mandrel, and the necessary contact pressure is created on a surrounding edge. The connection is opened by means of an actuator. The conductor can be inserted without the application of force, which ensures that thin strands can also be introduced into the connection without becoming distorted.

Pressing the actuator fixes the conductor into position. Since the actuator closes flush with the connector, it is possible to perform a visual check to ensure that all connections are fixed. The conductor is released by retracting the actuator. The conductor can then easily be removed from the connection. The same conductor can be connected a number of times.

The first HARTING product to be equipped with the new termination technology is the Han(r) PushPull Power 4/0 connector. Further products, including
Han(r) 4 A and Han(r) Q 5/0, will follow in the near future.
