JAE has introduced two new connectors supporting PC Card and Express Card formats, suitable for use in harsh environments. The new connectors allow users to transfer open-standard removable media conveniently between industrial or ruggedised PCs and office IT equipment.
The PX20 and PX10 connectors are the latest additions to JAE’s robust connector range supporting the latest desktop standards for industrial and embedded PC applications. Available PX20 configurations include a combined PC Card and Express Card two-slot connector, as well as a single-slot PC Card connector, all with button-eject mechanisms. The PX10 series comprises single-slot Express Card connectors supporting push-push card insertion and removal, allowing space-saving design in systems supporting the Express Card standard only.

Various mounting configurations are available with and without standoff, and the PX20 series offers the choice of left or right hand button location. The latest card standards are supported, including PC Card version 8.0 for type I and type II cards, and Express Card standard version 1.0 for 34mm and 54mm module types. The PCMCIA standardisation organisation has already granted a compliance ID to the PX20 and PX10 series.

The connectors meet low signal loss and crosstalk characteristics required for high speed data interchange, and are capable of operating at temperatures from 0 ºC to +55 ºC and up to 95% relative humidity. Extensive use of stainless steel throughout the guiding and retaining mechanisms results in robust performance, while a phosphor bronze ground plate and connectors ensure high EMI shielding and low signal losses.

The base side connectors for PX20 and PX10 connectors are supplied on embossed tape suitable for automatic mounting.
