Japanese connector manufacturer Hirose Electric has launched a new Wire-to-Board connector designed to perform in high-vibration environments, targeting applications across industrial, medical, and consumer electronics sectors.
The new KW30 series, part of Hirose’s SignalBee product family, features a 1 mm pitch, single-row, centre-lock design aimed at ensuring high reliability in harsh operating conditions. The connector passed a 2,000 Hz vibration test, reflecting its robustness in demanding environments such as factory automation, robotics, and motor control systems.
Hirose said the KW30’s design enhances connection stability through a rib structure that secures the fit between plug and receptacle. The female receptacle employs a two-point contact and clipping mechanism, while the plug’s box-shaped crimp contact reduces the risk of deformation. Together with a 0.7 mm effective mating length, the configuration provides high contact reliability.
The KW30 series is available in both straight and right-angle interface types, accommodating 28–32 AWG cables. It carries UL and C-UL certification and includes safety features such as positive locking mechanisms that prevent incomplete mating, mis-insertion, or lock damage. Users receive a clear tactile click when the components are correctly connected.
The connectors are rated for 0.8–3.0 A, 100 V AC/DC, and 30 mating cycles, and can operate across a temperature range of -55°C to +105°C.
Hirose said the KW30’s compact design and vibration resistance make it suitable for applications including office equipment, medical devices, home appliances, industrial robots, FA controllers, flat-panel TVs, and semiconductor manufacturing machinery.
