Stäubli Electrical Connectors has introduced a connector that’s designed in accordance with all applicable guidelines and with a specific focus on user-friendly handling.

With its impressive performance characteristics, the PerforMore two-pole, high-voltage connector offers maximum flexibility for electric vehicle manufacturers.

It can be used in a wide range of drive-train interfaces, including batteries, inverters and high-voltage distribution units.

The connector offers high-quality contacts that provide secure power transmission even under tough environmental conditions, along with significant safety improvements throughout the vehicle.

PerforMore is claimed to be the first connector developed specifically for use in the electric drive train of mass-produced electric vehicles. It is aimed at the next generation of electric vehicles, which require both high currents and time-saving installation procedures.

With a current-carrying capacity of 400 A at an ambient temperature of 85° C, extremely compact dimensions and high vibration resistance, Staubli says that PerforMore is suitable for use in a wide range of vehicle types.

It can be used in a variety of drive-train interfaces, including high-voltage batteries, power inverters or high-voltage distribution units (HVDUs).

It has a two-step unlocking mechanism, HVIL contacts, IP2X ingress protection and high-quality EM shielding to provide increased user safety.

PerforMore is fast and easy to install, thanks to an integrated lever that ensures quick locking. Mechanical and colour coding makes it easy to match connector pairs and prevent incorrect connections.

Installation is as simple as can be: Assembly with pre-assembled cables is only possible in the specified direction, improving user-friendliness while also lowering vehicle manufacturing costs. "Our PerforMore is perfectly designed to enable the high drive power and currents as well as a voltage levels of 800 V and more for the next generation of electric vehicles, thus fully supporting developers on their way into the future of e-vehicles", commented Winnijar Kauz, Product Manager E-Mobility of Switzerland-based Stäubli Electrical Connectors.
