EMI Filtered Audio Connectors Now Offer ESD Protection

Spectrum Advanced Specialty Products, formerly Spectrum Control Signal & Power integrity Group, has added a new design to its standard MIL-DTL-55116 capacitive filtered audio connectors. The new design offers ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection up to 8kV direct discharge and 15kV air discharge. Custom designs addressing other discharge requirements are available. These EMI filtered/ESD protected connectors are ideal for aviation, communication and security applications where an electronic system using the audio connector might be exposed to ESD environments.

Spectrum’s EMI filtered audio connectors have a capacitance value range of 10pF – 1µF and are available in C & Pi circuit configurations. These connectors are waterproof and polarized, are offered in plugs and receptacles and can be designed for special/selectively loaded EMI filtering. Spectrum’s custom filtered audio connectors meet all the requirements of MIL-STD-810F including sand and dust, salt, fog, high altitude operation, fungus resistance and immersion to 20 meters.
