Cliff Electronics’ switching 4mm banana sockets, are engineered for voltage use and laboratory-grade robustness.

They are in stock at authorised distributor DigiKey.

Inside the device are two fixed, insulated internal contacts. When a 4mm banana plug is inserted, it bridges the two contacts, creating the electrical connection.

There is no internal mechanical switching mechanism; the switching occurs solely through the physical insertion of the plug, enabling straightforward circuit routing, signal enabling, load switching, or safety interlock functions without additional switches or electromechanical parts.

This simplified approach reduces component count, eases system design, and supports long-term reliability in demanding technical environments.

To support equipment coding, safety compliance, and multi-channel instrumentation, the FCR7370 is available in four standard colours — red, black, green, and blue — providing clear channel identification and high-visibility marking on dense panels or PCBs.

Engineered for high-voltage use and laboratory-grade robustness, the socket is rated for 1kV (CAT III) and 10A.

Gold-plated contacts ensure low resistance and long service life, while the fully shrouded design enhances operator protection.

The right-angle PCB-mount format enables compact integration into instruments, test rigs, power electronics assemblies, and modular laboratory systems.

Applications cover automatic enable/disable or load-switch points, bench-top and portable instrumentation, training, laboratory, and educational equipment, calibration and diagnostic interfaces and multi-channel measurement or colour-coded test systems.
