A rugged connector for entertainment lighting applications, the VEAM VSC Series from ITT is a threaded coupling, 19-pin, cylindrical connector. Emphasizing quality and durability, the connectors are sealed to IP 67 when mated, have a black, hard anodized, non-conductive finish for scratch and wear resistance, and feature a heavy-duty, ribbed coupling nut to provide easy mating and un-mating.
Based on the popular quarter-turn lock VEAM ‘CIR’ series, the VEAM VSC leverages the CIR’s advanced design concepts to deliver a rugged machined aluminum version of the Socapex SL-419 connector family. The connectors are rated to 700 VDC and 500 VAC. The rated operating current is 25 A with a maximum current of 41 A. Operating temperature is specified from -55 to 125 degrees Celsius.

For ease-of-use, the connectors have six-circuit identification on the front and rear inserts and a recessed area in the back of the female insert is provided to accept a grounding disk. Seven forward contacts for ‘first make, last break’ grounding ensure safe mating and un-mating. An insulation sleeve is standard.

The male/female connectors come in both in-line and panel mount plug/receptacle versions with either solder or crimp contacts available. The in-line versions are complete with a machined aluminum backshell and a compression grip cable seal or break out strain relief system. Male (pin) and female (socket) contacts are gold plated over copper alloy and accommodate wire sizes from 12 to 14 AWG.

A variety of assembly tools are available, including a hand crimp tool frame with contact positioner, insertion tool and extraction tool kit. Pneumatic crimp tools are also available.

The VSC Series is competitively priced and readily available from stock from North American dealers Entertainment 1 and Creative Stage Lighting.
