JAE Europe has launched the MM60 PCI Express Mini Card connector system, which provides secure retention for the whole card. Two versions are available, with or without stand-off, to support a wide variety of functional modules including embedded industrial PCs or wireless adapters using the Mini Card format. The stand-off version supports modules with underside-mounted components up to 1.8mm maximum profile.
To hold the entire module securely, the connector and latch are positioned at either end of the card and operate together to enable module ejection. Both components are surface-mounted and optimised for automated assembly.

The MM60 connector is a 52-way device meeting the PCI-SIG electromechanical specifications for Mini Card. It has low insertion loss of –1dB at 1.25GHz, low return loss of –12dB at 1.7GHz, and low crosstalk of –32dB at 1.25GHz. Other performance characteristics include initial contact resistance below 55mΩ, rated current of 0.5A per pin, and dielectric withstand voltage of 300Vrms for 60 seconds.

The connector features gold-plated contacts, as well as a hold-down with tin-plated surface-mount terminations for lead-free soldering. The stainless steel latch also has tin-plated terminations for lead-free soldering. Insulators are made from UL94V-0 fire-retardant material meeting international safety requirements, and the connector is specified for operation from –40°C to 80°C.
