Cabling harness samples in one week

Connector and component manufacturer GTK has been achieving fast turn-around times for complex cable harness designs at its UK cable assembly and box-building facility based in Romsey, Hampshire. Recently the company won business supplying London Underground with a cable assembly for use in ticket machines.

Explains Connector and Cabling Product Manager, Tom Hennessey: “This was a new project with tight deadlines, but the cabling loom needed more design input. Ian Perris, General Manager of GTK UK Ltd, Romsey, met the contractor and took away a prototype unit. Within one week he was able to provide first off samples of a much lower cost solution.”

GTK’s 6000 square foot Romsey plant is able to offer technical assistance, prototyping, pre-production and production services on all types of assembly – crimp, coax, IDC, looms – as well as box-building. With a 20-strong workforce, the facility – acquired by GTK last year – has many years of experience supplying product to all industry sectors, and complements GTK’s Far Eastern manufacturing resource.

Adds Hennessey: “Three days after sign off on the new cable design, we delivered the first production batch of harness to the delight of our customer.
