Recently industrial applications in underwater environments have required interconnect solutions for submersible motors and pumps be waterproof, while maintaining the same high electrical and mechanical reliability and durability expected under dry conditions.
In response to this requirement, the M23 cable connectors have been tested and qualified to meet IP68 sealing requirements for operation to a depth of 5 metres, over a period of 72 hours.
These tests show that M23 connectors are able to perform while preventing water ingress for a longer duration and to a greater depth than previously established.
The technical characteristics of the Smiths Interconnect M23 series also provide excellent shock and vibration resistance in other extreme conditions, such as chemical, aggressive gas, and polluted environments, as well as resistance to oxidation, corrosion, and acid.
