Board-to-board power connector supports currents up to 60A

Strengthening the company’s board-to-board power connector portfolio, Hirose has introduced the flexible and customisable IT-P series. Featuring a 3-piece structure consisting of the mating receptacle, the interposer and the mounting receptacle, the series provides a wide range of variable height interposers to achieve board-to-board stack heights in the range of 13.5-44mm.

Designed for assembly with the stackable IT3 and IT5 series high-speed mezzanine connectors, the IT-P series board-to-board power connector offers a current rating of 60A. Providing secure and reliable connectivity, the series connector design features multiple contact points between the receptacle crown contacts and interposer pins. The receptacles are equipped with a latching mechanism to hold the interposers securely in place, and are keyed to prevent incorrect assembly. These low-profile receptacles are designed to ensure an easy reflow assembly process to the PCB.

The IT-P series board-to-board power connector is RoHS compliant. With an operating temperature range from -55 to +85°C, the IT-P series provides a contact resistance of 2mΩ (maximum), and an insulation resistance of 1000MΩ (minimum at 500V DC).

Rick van Weezel, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Hirose Electric USA, commented: “The IT-P series connector, combined with our proven IT3 and IT5 series high-speed mezzanine connectors, provides an advanced, high performance system that combines high-speed differential and single-ended signaling with power in one solution. The IT-P, IT3, IT5 bundle solves many of the design challenges our customers are addressing today.”
