ATCA Power Connectors have a Maximum Rating of 16 A, and Hot-Swap Capabilities

The new Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (AdvancedTCA, or ATCA) Zone-1 Power Connectors from SUYIN meet or exceed the generic PICMG-3.0 specifications. The 30-position standard version is equipped with 8 power contacts, carrying a maximum of 16 A each, and with 22 signal pins. Four additional unloaded signal pins, rated at a maximum of 1A each, are reserved for customer-specific configurations. SUYIN also supplies partially loaded Zone-1 connector versions with 20 or 22 pins.

The connectors feature high-quality, gold-plated cooper-alloy contacts with a very low contact resistance of 2.2 mΩ (power) and 8.5 mΩ (signal). The robust housing design and special alignment features allow blind mating. Due to their hot-swap capabilities, boards equipped with these connectors can be exchanged during live operation.

The right-angle male connector is designed for use with the system modules (ATCA boards/blades). The vertical female connector is employed as a daughterboard connector for use on the backplane. These power connectors use press-fit termination and can be processed with standard tools. The press-fit assembly process changes the shape of the contacts, thus forming a durable gas-tight connection between the contacts and the PCB.
