Amphenol Industrial Operations has launched a new high-power industrial connector as manufacturers across multiple sectors accelerate the electrification of equipment and infrastructure.

The TS1 Series has been developed to address rising demand for connectors capable of handling sustained high-voltage and high-current loads while operating reliably in harsh environments.

Electrification trends in transportation, industrial automation, and energy infrastructure are placing greater mechanical, thermal, and electrical stresses on interconnection systems, according to the company.

Ty Yesensky, Product Development Manager – Americas at Amphenol Industrial Operations, said electrification is increasing performance requirements for connectors across industries. He noted that components must tolerate frequent mating cycles, provide full electromagnetic interference shielding, and maintain shock and vibration resistance while carrying high power, adding that these requirements are driving the need for more specialised designs.

The TS1 Series is aimed at electrified and hybrid applications such as electric vehicles, industrial manufacturing equipment, transportation systems, and energy storage installations, including data centres and power transformers. The connectors are designed to support high-voltage, high-current use cases where reliability and safety are critical.

Amphenol said the new range has been engineered to give equipment designers greater flexibility, with multiple termination options for receptacles and adaptable wire routing for plugs. The series is available with 8.0 mm and 12.0 mm contact sizes, allowing it to be deployed across a broad range of applications.

Technical features include a metal shell and latch, 360-degree EMI shielding, and operating voltages of up to 2,000 V for the 12.0 mm contacts and 1,500 V for the 8.0 mm contacts. The connectors support current ratings from 200 A to 450 A and cable sizes ranging from 35 mm2 to 120 mm2, with individual wire shielding.

The TS1 Series is UL 4128 certified, USCAR2 compliant, and rated to IP6K9K for environmental protection. It is designed to operate in temperatures from -40°C to +125°C, withstand 500 mating cycles, and tolerate vibration levels of up to 20G while carrying rated current.

Amphenol Industrial Operations is headquartered in Endicott, New York, and operates manufacturing, sales, and marketing facilities globally. The company supplies power and signal connectors and interconnection systems for industrial markets including alternative energy, heavy equipment, factory automation, eMobility, rail, telecommunications, and power distribution.
