Water-cooled cabinet is ideal for SME server applications

New from Schroff is a water-cooled server cabinet that has been designed for use in a normal office environment and is therefore likely to be attractive to small and medium-sized enterprises or any other organisation without a separate air-conditioned computer room.

Known as Varistar LHX 3, the new cabinet provides a cooling capacity of 3kW and is capable of operating in ambient temperatures between 5 and 70degC and relative humidities from 5 to 95%.

A fan unit in the roof of the cabinet extracts warm air from the inside and directs it via special ventilation channels in the side panels down to a compact air/water heat exchanger in the base plinth, which then feeds the cooled air back up into the cabinet.

Featuring a zinc-plated steel frame and an optional glass front door, this heavy-duty cabinet is finished in RAL 7021 black grey and incorporates an all-round gasket for IP55 environmental protection. The cabinet measures 600mm wide and is available in a choice of depths and heights.
