‘Tool-free’ junction box design reduces installation time

An in-line junction box, designed to enable fast and easy installation, has been introduced by Hylec-APL. As standard, the DEBOX is supplied with a four-pole terminal block which is secured on a push-fit mounting pole, providing the user with all the necessary equipment for installation.

For cable retention, the junction box features a ratchet arm, which accommodates for both flat and round cables. To clip the lid, a fixing pin is used rather than a screw. The DEBOX can be securely fastened using two mounting ears, which relieve tension from the cables.

The junction box, which is constructed from flame-retardant UL94V-0 and IP44 rated, conforms with the EN60598-1(13.3.2) standard. All that is required to install the DEBOX in a screwdriver to tighten the terminal screws. To eliminate the need for tools, Push Wire termination can be used.

Mark Severn, Director, Sales, Hylec-APL, commented: “DEBOX is a good idea made better. The virtually tool-free design means that installation is faster than using competing products and installers never need hunt for a terminal block, dropped screw or missing fixing ever again. DEBOX suits internal and outdoor applications, including lighting.”
