New CompactPCI subrack system uses lateral heat flow

Schroff has introduced an 8-slot CompactPCI subrack system that has been specifically designed to allow 6U boards to be mounted horizontally within a 4U-high shielded enclosure. Fully compliant with the PICMG 2.16 specification, the 19in. system utilises a hot-swap fan unit with four fans to provide lateral heat flow from left to right through the unit.

The CompactPCI system is supplied complete with a PICMG 2.16 Rev 3.0 backplane offering two fabric/switch slots, six node slots and two P47 power connectors at the front, together with eight 80mm-deep slots at the rear. All slots use two IEEE guide rails and include ESD clips.

The system can accommodate two 19in. CompactPCI power supplies and is particularly suitable for applications in demanding environments where the use of COTS equipment is becoming more prevalent, particularly in the military and transportation sectors.

Finished in RAL 9005 black, the new CompactPCI system has been designed in accordance with international standards IEC 60297-3-101, -102 and -103, as well as IEEE 1101.1, 1101.10 and 1101.11.
