Gecko MCU starter kit opens way to application development

RS Components now has available Silicon Labs’ EFM32 Zero Gecko Starter Kit, a tool for engineers using the EFM32 Zero Gecko 32-bit microcontrollers (MCUs), the energy-friendly MCUs based on the ARM Cortex-M0+ processor. The starter kit contains sensors and peripherals demonstrating some of the MCU’s many capabilities and can serve as a starting point for application development.

The kit features an on-board SEGGER J-Link debugger and an Advanced Energy Monitoring system, allowing engineers to program, debug and perform real-time current profiling of an application without using external tools.

Other features of the starter kit include: backup capacitor for RTC mode, USB interface for host/device/OTG, low energy sensor interface (LESENSE) demo ready, light, LC (inductive) and touch sensors and free evaluation compiler versions.

The Zero Gecko starter kit is supported by the Simplicity Studio software suite, a comprehensive graphical user interface environment for all major computing platforms including Microsoft Windows, Linux and Mac/OS X. Available with the kit at no charge, Simplicity Studio provides developers with one-click access to all the information, documentation, energyAware tools, and software and source code libraries needed to quickly develop energy-friendly applications.
