Kontron has announced that it is launching the pITX iMX8M motherboard in a compact 2.5” pico-ITX format, a high-performance SBC solution for embedded applications in manufacturing or for deployment as an IoT gateway. The iMX8M features dual- or quad-core NXP CPUs based on the Arm Cortex-A53 architecture running at up to 1.5GHz.

With its Full 4K UltraHD resolution and optional high dynamic range, the board supplies the ideal basis for demanding graphics applications. Displays can be connected via an LVDS Dual Channel, a mini display port as well as an HDMI connector. In addition, the motherboard has two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, two rear USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports via the internal header, 8 GPIO as well as an S/PDIF internal header, audio line-in, line-out and a microphone input.

With its compact form factor, low power consumption and M.2 half-size connector with PCIe, USB 3.0 and Micro SIM interface, the piTX-iMX8M motherboard is well suited as a cost-optimised Arm SBC solution for embedded applications in medical technology, industrial automation as well as building automation and - thanks to soldered RAM and flash memory - can also be used in extremely demanding environments.

In addition, it enables processor configurations on 8M QuadLite or 8M Dual, each in the commercial or industrial version with a considerably extended temperature range from -40° to +60°, respectively +85°C.

For the pITX-iMX8M, Kontron offers both a Yocto Linux BSP (Board Support Package) and an Android BSP for quick entry.
