On-board emulation, 320-segment LCD feature on development kit

Texas Instruments’ MSP-EXP430FR6989 LaunchPad Kit is now available from Farnell element14. An easy-to-use Evaluation Module (EVM) for the ultra-low power MSP430FR6989 FRAM microcontroller, the Development Kit includes on-board emulation for programming, debugging and energy measurements as well as a 320-segment LCD.

The MSP430FR6989 MCU features ultra-low-power consumption with 128 KB of embedded FRAM (Ferroelectric Random Access Memory), delivering high endurance and high speed write access.

It also comes with demo examples including a stopwatch and a simple thermometer application using the on-chip temperature sensor.

Free software development tools are also available, such as TI’s Eclipse-based Code Composer Studio (CCS) IDE and IAR Embedded Workbench.

David Shen, Group CTO, Premier Farnell said, “The MSP-EXP430FR6989 LaunchPad highlights our partnership with Texas Instruments to bring the latest products and technologies to its popular LaunchPad development ecosystem. This easy-to-use dev kit simplifies rapid prototyping as it supports a wide range of BoosterPacks and includes advanced features such as TI’s EnergyTrace++ technology to enable real-time power consumption readings and CPU and peripheral state updates through the EnergyTrace GUI.”
