A-China Semiconductor Ltd is a Hong Kong based fabless semiconductor start-up company. It has successfully developed a 32-bit microcontroller with PUF (physical unclonable function) security function (model MCU007).

Each MCU has its own ID (like a fingerprint) which uses the physical differences on the silicon process to generate random garbled code and hardware it on the chip. It is unpredictable, reliable, and durable, also easier for mass production. Applications include firmware protection, smart locks, car keys, IoT authentication, anti-fake, branding, licensing, tag, match with blockchain technology, and many other applications concerning security like NFT and cryptocurrency.

Another model, the MCU008, comes without PUF – all other specifications are the same as the MCU007 but this one is offered at cheaper prices.

OEMs can use MCU007 for their new product development and use the PUF ID to protect their firmware to avoid designs being copied.

When it comes to mass production, you can switch to the MCU008 without changing the PCB layout but with a lower BOM cost. The MCU008 is a 32-bits ARM M0 core microcontroller which is ideal for smart device application. The MCU had passed 4KVA ESD, HBM, Latch-up, MM, been RA tested, with the material meeting the AEC-Q100 automotive standard and is also ROHS compliant. The company has seen OEMs use it for beauty, health tech, toys and LED control applications.

If you worry about the long lead time and unstable prices, A-China Semiconductor keep good quantity of stock in Hong Kong to support your invention.
