Kontron has releases the long-term available CP3010-SA CompactPCI processor board. Equipped with the latest SoC Intel Atom E3800 processors, the new CP3010-SA quadruples the performance in the low-power class of Intel Atom processor based Kontron CompactPCI systems. Since this doesn't increase the thermal budget, this makes it an ideal drop-in replacement even for Intel Core 2 Duo processor based CPCI systems.

The most impressive feature of the new CompactPCI processor board is the three times higher graphics performance that it offers compared to previous Intel Atom processor-based designs. Operating over an extended temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, the EN50155-compliant CP3010-SA features an unbeatable thermal design power value, soldered SoC and memory, and high resistance against shock and vibration. It also features a special heatsink design optimised for convection-cooled environments, making the CP3010-SA a perfect fit for all applications where fans are not desired or not possible. Perfect for harsh environments, the new processor board suits application areas found in industries such as transportation, automation, energy, military or aerospace.

Based on the new Intel Atom E3800 processors, the CompactPCI board allows system engineers and system integrators to build applications which benefit from a highly flexible, modular system structure based on standard building blocks that can be assembled according to specific performance levels as well as extension requirements. Forging a path for designing systems with a lifecycle beyond that of the components, this high level of standardisation enables ultra long-term availability concepts to be easily achieved with functional and footprint identical components contributing to the high degree of investment security.

Thanks to the integartion of the new Intel Gen7 graphics, the Kontron CP3010-SA delivers excellent 2D, 3D, and video capabilities to up to two independent displays connected via 2x DisplayPort and VGA. With up to quad core 1.9 GHz Intel Atom processor performance and up to 8 GB energy-efficient DDR3L memory, the CompactPCI processor board features leading edge interfaces including 3x Gbit Ethernet, 1x USB 3.0, 3x USB 2.0 plus CAN bus and 2x COM ports. Available as as single slot (4HP) or dual slot (8HP) version, it offers 2x SATA interfaces used for an onboard CFAST socket for data and software storage. These can be optionally replaced by up to 64 GB soldered SATA Flash and a HDD/SSD option on the extension. The new processor boards feature comprehensive board support packages for Linux, VxWorks, QNX and the complete Microsoft Windows range.
