North Atlantic Industries has launched a generation of single-slot, half-size, PCle boards that can be configured with up to three intelligent I/O and communication function modules. The 79G5 PCle multifunction I/O and communication board is well suited for a wide range of commercial applications with high-density I/O requirements.

This includes digital and analogue I/O, position control and measurement/simulation and communication interface applications.

The off-the-shelf solution is built on NAI's COSA (Custom-On-Standard-Architecture), which supports more than 40 different intelligent I/O, communication, measurement and simulation functions. These preexisting, fully tested functions can be combined quickly and easily in an unlimited number of ways. Each I/O function has dedicated processing, unburdening the system processor from unnecessary data management overhead.

"The COSA NAI (Custom-On-Standard-Architecture) delivers the highest packaging density and greatest flexibility of any multifunction I/O board in the industry," stated Lino Massafra, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at NAI. "As a result, the 79G5 PCle multifunction I/O and communication board meets the needs of commercial, military and aerospace applications that require measurements, simulation and communications."

The 79G5 has been designed for environments with operating temperature ranges of 0°C to 70°C. Background BIT (Built-in-Test) continually checks and reports on the health of each channel.
